This small but mighty performance venue has been a launchpad for countless singer-songwriters, most notably Taylor Swift. This authentic joint serves up tasty food and drinks as well as nightly shows every day of the week. If you’re going on a weekend, reservations are a good idea to make sure you get a table.
To get a different flavor of Nashville, check out Wedgewood-Houston, an up-and-coming artists neighborhood full of trendy cocktail spots, art galleries, and restaurants converted from old factories into hip spaces. This is where you can find several of the colorful and famous Nashville Murals scattered throughout the city. Wedgewood-Houston is a great place to steal away from the intensity of Broadway or the bright lights of The Gulch.
An unexpected attraction in Nashville is the Lane Motor Museum, which houses old, bespoke European cars and curious automotive oddities from the past. Take a look at crazy cars with creative designs that never quite caught on, or gawk at the ‘Wingless Wonders’ exhibit, which showcases historic cars which attempted to use propellers to power the car down the road. Once you leave, you’ll have a newfound appreciation for your modern Avail car.
No trip to Nashville would be complete without a visit to The Grand Ole Opry, The Opryland Hotel, or The Country Music Hall of Fame. While you’re sure to find plenty of country music history in Nashville, no spot is more extensive and thorough than the Country Music Hall of Fame. Gaze at tons of music memorabilia, from trademark outfits worn by Dolly Parton to legendary guitars that created some of country music’s greatest hits.
Once the home of grocery-magnates Leslie and Mable Cheek, this sprawling estate stretches 55-acres across the Tennessee countryside. Walk among the many gardens rife with southern fauna and colorful flowers, or take in masterpieces by American impressionists Childe Hassam, John Alexander White, and pop artist Andy Warhol. Scattered across the grounds and accenting the gardens are colorful, tentacled sculptures from glass artist Dale Chihuly.
There's no shortage of things to do in Nashville, especially with the increase in businesses settling down in town. While it’s not quite “The Deep South”, folks love Nashville because of its approachable and welcoming vibes, in addition to the near endless amount of music that originates from its streets. There’s just something about the Music City that brings up a tune in your heart and gets stuck in your head even after you leave.
