This bare bones taco spot has been a Denver favorite since the 80s serving up authentic Mexican tacos done right. El Taco de Mexico is a wonderful place to expand your palate with traditional taco meats like cheekmeat, tongue, and milanesa, a tasty and savory breaded beef.
Adelitas serves traditional cuisine from the state of Michoacan on the southwestern pacfic coast of Mexico. Their menu consists of a wide variety of dishes including fajitas, seafood, mole, and of course, tacos (which come in orders of three at time). Plenty of veggie options, too and a great cocktail menu. Reviews rave about the quick and friendly service, as well as the authentic food.
A more upscale taco/Mexican bistro option with small and large plate options for lunch and dinner. An intimate setting with gorgeous presentation and plating. Most popular items include the torta lunch and taco options including: carne asada, pollo asado, carnitas, chicharron, carne molida, and wild mushrooms.
A certified green restaurant using locally-sourced ingredients for made-from-scratch tacos. Serving up fresh, clean latinx-inspired takes on classic American cuisine, as well as classics like enchiladas, burritos, and nachos. Colorful dishes, savory appetizers, and a mexican-spirit focused cocktail menu make El Camino Community Tavern the perfect happy hour spot before a night out on the town.
This slightly upscale but casual cantina in Denver’s SoDo district is another slammin’ happy hour spot for brunch, drinks, or happy hour. They also have amazing tacos, including a wagyu brisket, cauliflower, and shrimp al pastor with salsa verde and pineapple. Here’s the best part about the tacos: you can have them made with traditional Navajo fry bread for only $0.50. It’s more than worth the two extra quarters.
Denver has a surprisingly authentic selection of both traditional tacos and modern American spins on Mexican classics. Make sure you have a set of wheels to try every single one, no one likes walking with a belly full of food.
